Our Beginning

The Union County Public Library System was created in 1940. In 1958, it merged with the El Dorado public library. The Union County Public Library System is supported by the citizens of Union County through property taxes and contributions.

Our Mission

The mission of the Union County Public Library System is to support the Educational, Cultural and Informational goals of our communities by providing quality programs, sources and services.

Be Our Friend

Friends of Barton Library is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to promote and support Barton Library. Membership is open to anyone interested in helping the library grow.

In the past, FOBL has sponsored new programs, donated equipment, and increased public awareness of library services.
